Kaya , I hope you all had a wonderful sunny Saturday and Sunday to finish your week. I just want to first say a massive thank you to all the staff and students at OLC, my green and Irish ways, were not only accepted but embraced on Saint Patrick's Day last week. A special thank you to my amazing teacher partner (Mrs Ricciardone, she truly is my leprechaun in crime). I was truly humbled on the day, so go raibh mile maith agat (thanks a million). 💚🍀 The students not only took part in all the activities but even had a wee jig at the end of the day, I felt truly blessed and was walking on cloud 9 for the rest of the week. Then to top that off the year 6 students finished their swimming lessons on Friday with great manners and respect for their awesome swim instructors, what a great end to the week.   Week 8 Learning Maths: In maths, we have been learning about prime and composite numbers. Over the next week, why not get your child to explain to you the difference between them both. N

Kaya, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I spent the weekend talking to family in lieu of not being home to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day. I am sure not many places in Ireland will not be celebrating too big this year due to COVID19. The theme of the upcoming Wednesday will be GREEN and Irish due to the celebration of Saint Patrick's Day on the 17th March 2021! Tell your child to come with an open, green heart. They are welcome to wear some green in their hair, green socks or a badge if they would like otherwise normal school attire.  Lá FhĂ©ile Pádraig sona duit! (Happy St. Patrick's Day to you!) I also just wanted to include a little note on Saint Patrick's Day for those of you that do not know the background. Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. Born in Roman Britain in the late 4th century, he was kidnapped at the age of 16 and taken to Ireland as a slave. He escaped but returned about 432 to convert the Irish to Christianity. There are many legends s

Kaya, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It was another busy weekend in the Hurst/Schoen household, filled with planning for the weeks ahead, time with friends and our beautiful staff Commissioning Mass at Our Lady of the Southern Cross Parish Church. I felt truly welcomed to the Parish and I am so grateful for all that were in attendance. I would like to also thank you all for such a welcoming and warm start to my first year at Our Lady of the Cape. Now that we have passed the halfway mark in Term 1, we have definitely sowed the most important seeds for strong growth in our learning for our final year at OLC.  I want to congratulate the wonderful   Nina Hutton  on receiving our first Star Citizen in the 6H community for continually demonstrating the schools value of compassion. Nina shows compassion in  her thoughts, actions and words. She is a kind and generous soul to others, always ready to give her time, jokes, smiles and friendship. She is always one of the first students in

Good Afternoon, I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend. It was another quiet weekend in the Hurst/Schoen household, filled with dog walks on the beach and some much needed R & R for the week ahead. The highlight of my weekend was catching up with some friends on the beach. On Wednesday, the students will have the wonderful Miss Gilpin  as their relief teacher as I will be attending a professional development course in Bunbury, I look forward to seeing the students again on Thursday for the swimming carnival. We also have two new focuses as a whole class, this include whole body listening and lining up quietly. We are working our way towards two class rewards for this term. I want to congratulate the wonderful   Ellie Crawford  on receiving our merit award last week. She received her award for her excellent start to the school year. Ellie is a new addition to our class and OLC, she is always ready to say yes to a friend and is already embodying the OLC school's values of C
