Welcome Back to a New School Year!

Kaya Year 6 Parents , Now that the class allocations have been sent out, we can officially say ‘dia duit or hello’ and welcome you all to the start of the new school year. Let's do this class of 2023! We hope that you have had a wonderful break with your families, one that has been full of rest, rejuvenation, fun and excitement. We thought we would take this opportunity to outline a few logistics for week 1, starting  Wednesday 1 st  February. OUR CLASSES We have moved…the Year 6 classrooms are now located in the new buildings near the Nature Playground. 6M is on the right closest to the new toilets and 6H is on the left closest to the old year 6 rooms. Also, the Year 6 crew is having a bit of a revamp - Woop Woop! Mr McSevich has a new partner in crime this year, the wonderful Mrs Ricciardone which will allow him to teach Science to the upper primary as a specialist teacher on Mondays and Tuesdays. Camp and Week 2 Learning

Kaya ,  I hope you all had a great weekend, winter has started to set in and we have started lighting the fire in the Schoen/Hurst household. I love the feeling of drinking tea beside a warm fire. I really enjoy winter in Australia, as it reminds of me the weather back home. In the six seasons calendar we are now in the season of Djeran, which is known as the season of Adulthood and is where the cooler weather begins. The students will be learning about Djeran over the upcoming weeks.  We have had a wonderful week back to school although I am sure your children are very tired, from both camp and the first week back. For term 2, I have introduce lots of new roles and responsibilities to the 6H community as well as the students taking on ministries, I am proud to say they have all taken these roles on with gusto!! ! 👏 Spending the week on camp with this group of year 6 students was wonderful. Important Camp Reminders and Important Information

K AY A, Can you believe that it is only 3 sleeps until we depart for Year 6 camp??? The students are going to have the most amazing time; we will be taking part in activities like wall climbing, zip-lining, abseiling and orienteering as well as lots of fun group activities.  Please remember we will depart OLC at 8.50 on Wednesday morning. Your student will need to arrive at normal school time (8.30am) and place their bags for camp outside the hall in front of the double doors. They will then make their way to the classroom for the class role. Students will need to ensure they have used the bathroom as the bus is a two hour drive. They will also need to take out any medical items from their bag and provide this to the teacher in a clear zip lock bag with their name on it.  Even though it is a very exciting time, we are aware that for many, it is a time for nervousness.
