6H are Making Jesus Real

KAYA,

The students of 6H this week have been Making Jesus Real. I have been so proud of their efforts both in their school work and in their extra community service. Below are a few snapshots of them Making Jesus Real in action! 

Writing letters to our pen pals at Cape Care - Shirley, Paul, Jean and Rae! 💟📪📧




Taking part in National Clean Up Australia Day - we found 5 bags of normal rubbish and 4 bags of recyclable materials between OLC and the Church. 🚮🚯








Our Year 6 Leadership team also held a successful fundraiser on Friday, where the students donated a gold coin to decorate their own mask. 😷😷




The amazing OLC school band that rocked the fundraiser on Saturday in Dunsborough, with all proceeds going to support relief in the Ukraine. 🎤🎸🥁🎹




Well done Year 6 crew, what awesome leadership skills you have demonstrated and what role models you are providing for the rest of OLC. 

Quick Reminders: 
  1. Students to bring an old white, beige, cream, grey or light coloured pair of socks to school tomorrow to decorate for wearing on Monday the 21st to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day. 
  2. Students to bring in recyclable materials to school on Thursday 17th of March (Paddy's Day) to make their Leprechaun Trap. This could be cardboard boxes (cereal boxes, snack food, etc) toilet rolls, etc.

K AY A, I hope you have all had a tremendous break with this cracker sunshine. 🌞 I cannot wait to see the 6H family back in the classroom for an AWESOME term 4! We are going to end their time at OLC with smiles, busy times, Confirmation, Graduation, Excursions, Incursions and lots of learning! So, without further ado, let's get into it!  How awesome were the costumes for book week? Peace Poster: The results of the peace poster competition will be announced at a small assembly on Friday the 13th. (Just the Year 6 students will be in attendance). If your child is a winner, we will contact you early week 1, so that you can arrange someone to attend.  CONFIRMATION PREPARATION Our Confirmation Mass is set to take place on  Saturday the 28th of October at 6pm at Our Lady of the Southern Cross Parish . Week 7 and 8 of Term 4

K AY A, Can you believe that there is only 15 days left in Primary School for your child? WOW! Not only that but most of these days will include end of year excursion, practice at the Church and in the hall for Graduation and lots of end of year preparations!  Year 6 End of Year Gift  A massive thank you to the three wonderful parents who came along on Wednesday in week 6 to complete the end of year 6 gift artwork. The students did a really wonderful job on their own individual paver, which together will make up the OLC Reconciliation Pathway to the Aboriginal area at the back of the school. What an amazing legacy to leave behind - so watch this space! Well done team! Graduation Practice and Year 6 Busy Bee  Graduation Practice will start down at the Church in week 7 and 8. The students are allowed to wear their sport uniform on these days. This will be a strong focus for the next few weeks. Important Camp Reminders and Important Information

  K AY A, Can you believe that it is only  5  sleeps until we depart for Year 6 camp??? The students are going to have the most amazing time; we will be taking part in activities like wall climbing, zip-lining, abseiling and team games as well as lots of fun group activities.  Please remember we will depart OLC at 8.40 on Monday morning. Your student will need to arrive around 8.15am and place their bags for camp outside the hall in front of the double doors. They will then make their way to the classroom for the class role. Students will need to ensure they have used the bathroom as the bus is a two hour drive. They will also need to take out any medical items from their bag and provide this to the teacher in a clear zip lock bag with their name on it.  We hope the students have started to prepare their bags for camp using the camp what to bring list below.
