And we are back!!!!!! Term 3 Begins!

Kaya,

I hope this wintery weather has treated you well throughout the holidays, I know for me it has reminded of life back in Ireland. I spent my time on the holidays, catching up with friends and family. We spent time in between the rainstorms hiking and found the beautiful Quinninup Falls, it was beautiful and well worth the hike. The Wadandi People used Quinninup Falls to perform ceremony and I could definitely see why, with its powerful energy but yet being so peaceful and tranquil. Taking only your memories and leaving only your footprints is the Wadandi People's only request. I am really looking forward to getting back to school and hearing all about the student's holiday, I miss our 6H Family!

*****TERM 3 REMINDER*****
6H will no longer have sport uniform on Tuesday as we are now moving from Dance to Music with the wonderful Mrs Sherbourne. The students sport uniform days will now be Wednesday (Year 6 leaver shirt) and Friday (Faction sport shirt).

Now let's get down to business..... The start of term is going to be incredibly busy with Confirmation in the second week...I thought I would send a few quick reminders in the lead up. I'm not sure how you work but I know that too much at once is overwhelming, so I have only included what is important for this week..

WEEK 1 REMINDERS

PARENT/CHILD CONFIRMATION WORKSHOP
On Tuesday 20th July (week 1...2nd day back😳) we will be holding our Confirmation Parent & Child Workshop in the hall at Our Lady of the Cape at 5.30pm that will run for just over an hour. If you're child is receiving their Confirmation, you and your child are required to attend this workshop. In this workshop we will explore the sacrament further and discuss the important elements and how you and your child can apply this within your life. Prayer buddies are most welcome to join us, however it is not compulsory that the prayer buddies attend. I recommend you bring many layers, as it will get fresh in the hall.

PARENT LETTER
It is getting closer to our Retreat Day (Friday week 2) and your child's letter is almost due back. In the previous blog, I discussed that EVERY child will receive a letter from their parents to read and reflect upon. Please see the previous blog about the letter requirements and further suggestions. There is now only 7 more days to get it back to me. Please ensure they are all handed in by FRIDAY 23rd JULY!!

CONFIRMATION COMMITMENT & FAMILY MASS
On Saturday 24th July at 6pm there is a Confirmation Commitment and Year 6 Family Mass at Our Lady of the Southern Cross. All students are required to attend, as this is the Year 6 Family Mass as well.

If you are unable to make it, you will need to attend another mass on one of the other weekend masses leading up to Confirmation. On this occasion, please see Father Francis before the mass to inform him that you are their for the Sacrament Commitment, this way he can carryout the blessing with the congregation.

SAINT BOX & ORAL PRESENTATION
We have extended the due date the student's Saint Box and Oral Presentation to Friday 23rd July. We will be starting our presentations on this day...names will be drawn out of a hat to keep it fair (unless anyone desperately wants to go first!)

We will be checking in with the students on Monday to see how they are going with this and to see if they need further help. Please don't hesitate in contacting us if you have any further questions about this task.

CONFIRMATION RETREAT DAY

All students will be participating in our Confirmation Retreat day on Friday 30th July. Mrs Meyer has been working incredibly hard to ensure this day is special for all of the children. There are a range of activities that the children will take part in on the day, including receiving your letter. They will also participate in a Reconciliation liturgy and practice for Confirmation the next day.

The day will take place in the hall and the students will be able to wear free dress. The school will be providing lunch for the children and we ask that each student brings a share plate for recess (just from past experience a small plate of food will be plenty).

- Boys are to bring a plate of savoury food
- Girls are to bring a plate of sweet food

Please contact me if you have any further questions.

Hopefully I haven't overwhelmed you all...that's it for now.

Have a brilliant weekend, let's hope we see a little sunshine at some point. Looking forward to seeing my crew on Monday morning.

Miss Hurst
