⭐⭐Star Citizen Award⭐⭐
Well done to Jeremy Collis for receiving our 6H Star Citizen for Respect for Term 3.  Jeremy is an outstanding Year 6 role model. He consistently displays due regard for everyone around him and continually showcases respect and appreciation for his work and learning environment. Jeremy also demonstrates respect for others learning and shows patience and kindness with his peers. He also, continues to strive for greater achievements in his learning and respects all new and exciting challenges that come his way. OLC and 6H is very lucky to have Jeremy as a true and respectful leader in our school. Well done, Jeremy.

Learning from week 5 of Term 3:

Writing:
This week in writing we are learning about the science of persuasion and what makes an effective persuasive text and how to persuade someone successfully. In week 6, we will be writing a letter to the OLC staff about a healthy living campaign that we believe that they should enforce in their week. We will also be making a poster about this campaign on Canva the online program, these posters will be hung up around the school.

Math:
In our math lessons we are learning about chance and probability. We have been learning with coins and dice and figuring out the chances and outcomes of different activities. On Friday we were given the challenge to create our own probability board game that we will be able to play with our parents on Wednesday afternoon at Parent Opening Night.

Religion:
In religion we are learning about kids in Thailand who use sock balls instead of soccer balls or basketballs. To help us gain an appreciation on how lucky we are to have quality sports equipment, and give us an insight into how it would be to use sock balls for sport, on Monday we made our own sock balls and on Tuesday and Wednesday all we could use in daily fitness, recess and lunch were those sock balls we made. It definitely made us more appreciative and aware of how lucky we are. We also created some new games and actually ended up enjoying ourselves.

Please note some separate emails will be sent out today to individual parents about students that have not returned their homework, this will become a regular communication from now on so that you are aware of the progressing situation.

Home Learning Grid includes:

  1. Reading x 20 minutes every night - students to write up the pages that they read that night and the parent to sign every night.
  2. Spelling Activities - spelling grid to be completed in homework book.
  3. Mathematics - Two Mathletics tasks to be completed as well as a worksheet that will revise a topic from the previous term.
