A prayer for Ukraine
Loving God, We pray for the people of Ukraine, for all those suffering or afraid, that you will be close to them and protect them.
We pray for world leaders, for compassion, strength and wisdom to guide their choices.

We pray for the world that in this moment of crisis, we may reach out in solidarity to our brothers and sisters in need.
May we walk in your ways so that peace and justice become a reality for the people of Ukraine and for all the world.
Amen.

Laptops
Please remind your children to charge their laptops every night as we have been having children coming to school with their laptops flat.
Library on Wednesday
Library is on Wednesday every week so please remind your children to bring their library bag. Year 6 students can borrow up to 6 books at a time.

Character Strengths
Dear Parents, currently at OLC we are focusing on modeling and observing different character strengths.
The strengths that we will focus on are taken directly from the VIA Institute for Character.
If you wanted to learn more about this please follow the link to the 24 character strengths: https://www.viacharacter.org/character-strengths
This upcoming week we are looking for people who show Hope. Can you encourage your child to reflect on the following?

In 6H, we have also conducted the VIA character strength survey and the students are now aware of their top 5 strengths and their bottom 5 character strengths. We then used these to match the students with some Saint names that are known for their character strengths. If you would like to conduct the free survey follow the link below.

6H Learning

Writing
In writing we are re-creating narratives on Narnia. Its cool, For example, Eva’s super spectacular story
is about a protagonist dressing up as her, trying to keep her in Narnia. We’ve been doing it in order too. Fist the sizzling start, Second, mini problems ( the build-up ), Then the climax, After that the Falling action. And finally, the resolution! We cannot wait to share our class book, all the students are working hard on their awesome story.

Religion
In religion we are learning the very important story of Pentecost and how the Apostles were given the gift of the Holy Spirit we are also choosing our Saints for Confirmation. We hope you enjoyed our Seesaw Posts. Next week we will be starting our Saint Blooms Ball and research project. Make sure you have checked in with the students about what Saint they have chosen. Research and work on the Blooms Ball starts on Monday afternoon. Soon we’ll get to be adults of the church!

Math
During Maths, we are doing expanded notation! This is a new topic that we have started this week and we also celebrated World Math day on Wednesday, by doing Math groups with games. There are 4 groups including: Einstein, Newton, Archimedes, Pythagoras.

Homework
This year is just reading and timetables for homework. So please make sure you do your reading every night for 30 to 40 minutes. The next two weeks we will be working on the x7 timetables. We hope you are doing them even if you already know them. We bring our homework in on every Second Friday. However, as there is a pupil free day on the last week of this term, the homework will be due on Thursday 7th of April. Please make sure to keep your diary up to date and get it signed by your parents.
