Week 3 of Term 2 and Important Confirmation Reminders

 KAYA,

I look forward to seeing you tonight at the Confirmation Commitment Mass. It will be nice to see our class buddies supporting our Confirmation candidates.

This week in class we have had to go over our class pledge and revisit the OLC values and expectations to ensure that we all create a positive learning environment for each other including pushing ourselves and trying our best and spreading kindness.

We were very lucky that the sun shone bright on our walk to the Church for our Confirmation practice. A big thank you to Mrs Meyer for taking time out of her schedule to come and practice for Confirmation at the Church on Thursday. The students were beautifully reverent and all worked very hard. We all feel very prepared for our big day and we cannot wait to celebrate it with you all.

A very special Happy Mother's Day goes out to all the Moms, Grandmothers, Big Sisters, Friends and Ladies who celebrate tomorrow and who celebrate what it means to be a mom to those in their life. Especially all our wonderful 6H mommas! What would we do without you?

Here's to strong women.
May we know them,
May we be them,
May we raise them.

6H Confirmation Day Information

As advised by the wonderful Amie Meyer 6H's Confirmation Mass is set to take place on Sunday 15th May at 8.30am at Our Lady of the Southern Cross Parish.

As part of our Confirmation Program at the school, it is expected that all students of 6H participate, whether it be in a prayer buddy (Non-Catholic) or Confirmation Candidate (Catholic) capacity.

This means that all students will be exposed to the learning behind this sacrament, as well as having a part within the mass.

Obviously those who aren't Catholic will not officially receive the Sacrament of Confirmation but will be included in things such as the a blessing, artwork and testing related to curriculum content.

It is always great to see the students supporting one another as a collective, especially in their final year at Primary School. 💗

Confirmation Candidate's Sponsor

On the day of Confirmation, the candidates will also have their sponsor in attendance at the sacrament. The sponsor needs to be a Catholic over the age of 18, can't be the child's parent, but could be another relative.

The role of the sponsor is to be a person who can guide the candidate through life's challenges with a Catholic perspective. It is similar to the role of the God Parent at Baptism, and sometimes a child's God Parent is also their Confirmation Sponsor.

On the day of the Sacrament, the sponsor has a small role in the ceremony, which we will role play with the students on the day of the retreat (this upcoming Friday at school).

CONFIRMATION RETREAT DAY

All students will be participating in our Confirmation Retreat day on Friday 13th May at school. The team will be working incredibly hard to ensure this day is special for all of the children (candidates and buddies).

There are a range of activities that the children will take part in on the day, including receiving a letter from you (if you have not yet sent your letter into the classroom teacher please do so asap). They will also participate in a Reconciliation liturgy and practice for Confirmation on the Saturday.

The day will take place in the hall and the students will be able to wear free dress. The school will be providing lunch for the children. We are no longer asking students to bring a share plate for morning tea, we ask that students bring their normal morning tea for recess and crunch and sip if required.

IMPORTANT! LETTER TO CHILD
I have still not received all parent letters, if you have not yet sent your letter please return it to the classroom teacher on Monday. This letter is often something your child will cherish and hold onto for a long time. We do not want any students to be left with no letter on the retreat day! ✉✉
