Week 10 Learning and Information

KAYA,

Can you believe that we have reached the end of term 2? Wow - wee!!! Well done to all the students of 6H! You did it! We have a very busy week ahead of us.

Unfortunately, the week ended with sad but fond farewell to one of our amazing 6H leaders. Elliott Birch has left OLC and we all wish him the best of luck in his next school, we know he will do wonderfully. Remember, Elliott to continue to show Compassion to all you meet, Appreciate all those people and things around you, Respect yourself and everyone you meet and put your best Excellent effort into all you do!

Congratulations to Meelup who will have free dress on Thursday!

Important Message

Mr McSevich and I are aware that a number of students have messaging apps on their laptops. Please be advised we have a few concerns regarding this.

The School user agreement and the terms and conditions of messaging apps such as Skype require that users be over 13 (and in some cases 16) before signing up to their services. This is a child safety matter designed to ensure that people messaging each other are able to make appropriate decisions. If you have signed your child up to one of these sites, please check that they are aware of who they are allowing to join their conversations and consider checking their conversations. If you have not signed your child up to these, please consider having a conversation to see if they have signed themselves up to the apps.

Further, the use of unapproved apps and websites in school time is a breach of the technology terms and agreement and is inappropriate. Please support your child to ensure that these apps are shut down, and any tabs that are not school related, before coming to school in the mornings.

Should you have any further questions in relation to this, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Dance Concert Practice

The students have dance concert practice on Monday from 11am to 1pm. Please allow them to wear their sport uniform.

The students will also have on Friday morning from 8.40 - 9.40. The dance concert will be held on Friday at 1.40pm in the hall.

Year 6 Camp

The camp packing list was sent home with the children on Friday. Please have a look through this. Can you also please ensure that you have paid your $380 for camp to the office over the upcoming two weeks.

Camp Homework:

We have now completed our camp task homework. However, pver the last week of school, I will be asking those students who have not completed these tasks yet to get this done.

Rube Goldberg Machine
Awesome work to those students that have completed their Rude Goldberg Machine, they were EPIC and so fun to watch. There are a few students who have still to complete this project. Please make sure this is completed over week 10.

Human Development
Our human development workshop will be held this upcoming Tuesday. The boys session will be held from 9am - 10.30am and the girls session will be held from 11am - 12.30pm.

Year 6 Tree Planting - Ludlow Forest
On Thursday the 30th of June, we will be taking the Year 6 students to Ludlow Forest to volunteer to help plant trees. This activity will take most of the day. We will depart OLC at 9.20am and we will arrive back to school by 3pm. The students will need to wear sport clothes and bring wet weather gear and will need to bring a packed lunch and water.

I hope you have a wonderful week, please do not hesitate to reach out to me should you have any questions.

Thank you,

Miss Hurst
