Merit Award Week 7
Congratulations to Ava Lewis for receiving the 6H Merit award for week 7. Ava received this award for consistently displaying the OLC school values to everyone she meets. Ava, you should be very proud of your growth and learning over the last two terms. I love how you have developed your confidence in working independently. You have really shown a growth mindset when approaching all learning especially when working on mathematics. Well done Ava, keep up the great work, you should be very proud.

Learning Journey Year 6
Myself and Mr McSevich are really looking forward to inviting you into the Year 6 classrooms to view your child's work. Learning Journeys will be hosted on Thursday 8th from 3pm - 5pm. You will be welcome to view your child's artwork hung around the room, view their learning progress folder and their writing and math books. You can then walk across to the hall to view the peace posters hung around the hall for whole school voting. If you are available, please drop in for a look. There will also be a slip of paper on your child's desk for you to stick on your child's favourite piece of work. This can be work that is hanging up around the classroom or in any of their books.

Peace Poster
Well done to all the students in Year 6 who have turned in their Peace Poster, "Wow" is all that I can say to the mammoth effort put in to these pieces of art. You will be able to view the Peace Posters in the hall when you come for learning journey. If your child did not bring their Peace Poster on Friday, they will need to bring it on Monday morning, this is non negotiable.

R U OK Day
On Thursday the 8th of September we will be discussing R U OK? Day in 6H.  The team at R U OK? believe that a conversation can change a life. Their aim at R U OK? is to inspire and empower everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and start a conversation with those in their world who may be struggling with life. We will be discussing how you don't need to be an expert to reach out - just a good friend and a great listener and use these four steps and have a conversation that could change a life:
  1. Ask R U OK?
  2. Listen
  3. Encourage action
  4. Check in

School Photos
On Thursday the 8th of September and Friday the 9th of September our school will have it's class photos. Usually in Year 6 we have photos on both days. On Thursday we have our normal class photos, full school uniform is required. On Friday, the students are asked to wear their sport uniform with their leavers shirt, this is for the Year 6 leaving picture. On Friday, the students are also asked to bring a prop e.g. hat, funny glasses, etc for the Year 6 mock up picture.
