Week 7 Learning and Information

KAYA,

I hope you guys had a wonderful long weekend, how beautiful was the weather?
In celebration of National Reconciliation Week we created our own 6H Caring For Country class pledge. The students came up with some beautiful statements for inclusion. We have also started exploring and researching our 6H class totems - The native numbat (Noombat) and the native cherry (Juck). The students are busy creating their information reports and art projects on these class totems.

Year 6 Camp

I hope you received the letter for the Year 6 camp from your child this week. Can you please ensure that you read the entire letter and fill in all necessary detail including medicines, dietary requirements and any sleep support, etc.

If you have any questions with the letter please do not hesitate to reach out.

Camp Homework:
Last week the students began their camp homework on seesaw. Please ensure your child completes these tasks each week. There are still students who have not completed last weeks tasks.

This week the students will have to wash the dishes each night and record a video one night only.

Rube Goldberg Machine
Last week in science the students began exploring energy and as part of this, I have set them all a challenge...to create and video a Rube Goldberg Machine. The students have explored what these machines are and have watched a few video examples of what it could include. This task is a homework challenge and as I have posted on the Seesaw activity, the video is due in week 8, so please support your child to take on this challenge.
Thanks
Mr Mc

Friendology
In Friendology, this week the students will be working on friendship boundaries. Your child will learn how to build healthy, safe relationships by strengthening their personal boundaries. Some people naturally have strong boundaries and force fields to begin with, while some people have to work on building stronger boundaries every day to keep safe and well in their friendships. The stronger our boundaries and force fields are, the more resilient we become! This allows us to bounce back way quicker after Friendship Fires and Mean-on-Purpose moments. The good news is that keeping our boundaries and force fields strong gets a whole lot easier with practice!

To continue this conversation at home it would be great if you could share one thing that is 'ok' and one thing that is 'not ok' in your own personal friendships with your child. Also including what you do to try and keep your personal boundary or force field strong.

Human Development
In preparation for the human development workshop next week, the students will be completing a puberty research project in class in health.

Winter Sport Carnival
On Thursday this week, we will be travelling to Bunbury with the Year 5 and 6 students to participate in the Southwest School winter sports carnival. Please note, I have still not received all the permission slips from the students, please ensure that they bring this back with them to school tomorrow. As this will state whether they are coming back on the bus with the rest of the school or being collected in Bunbury. The students may be a little late back from the carnival. Please arrange an alternative way to get home on this day if your child catches a bus.

I hope you have a wonderful week, please do not hesitate to reach out to me should you have any questions.

Thank you,

Miss Hurst
