Week 8 Learning and Information

 KAYA,

We all had a wonderful day in Bunbury at the Winter Sport Carnival. Well done to the wonderful Mrs Sinclair who organised the entire day for the students. A massive thank you to those parents that donated their time and energy to coach a team on the day. The students had a lot of fun, were respectful to all and showcased the OLC school values all day. Despite the weather it was a great day for everyone.

Year 6 Camp

I hope you received the letter for the Year 6 camp from your child this week. Can you please ensure that you read the entire letter and fill in all necessary detail including medicines, dietary requirements and any sleep support and return it by the end of the week.

If you have any questions with the letter please do not hesitate to reach out.

Camp Homework:
Please ensure your child completes the camp task homework on seesaw. This week the students will have to practice packing and unpacking their sleeping bag. They will need to record themselves one night in the week doing this and explaining what they are doing.

Rube Goldberg Machine
Last week in science the students began exploring energy and as part of this, I have set them all a challenge...to create and video a Rube Goldberg Machine. The students have explored what these machines are and have watched a few video examples of what it could include. This task is a homework challenge and as I have posted on the Seesaw activity, the video is due in week 8, so please support your child to take on this challenge.
Thanks
Mr Mc

Human Development
As the OLC Cross Country is being held on Thursday this week, our human development workshop has had to be moved to another date. It will now be held on Tuesday the 28th of June. The boys session will be held from 9am - 10.30am and the girls session will be held from 11am - 12.30pm.
.
OLC Cross Country
On Thursday (16th June) this week, the Year 6 students will be taking part in the OLC Cross Country. This will be held in the morning. The students will need to wear their sport uniform (faction shirts, they can bring teddy's and zinc in support of their faction) for this event. Students will arrive down to the oval at 9am for a 9.15am start. All students from Year one to six will be participating. The event should be completed before 11am. Please note the timeline may change depending on the weather. Year 1's will be racing first and Year 6 students to race last. Students will be required to bring a change of clothing (including shoes and socks, with a towel/plastic bag) in case.

Parents are welcome to attend alongside the oval. This carpark will be closed from 8.30am, as the competitors will run through the southern end of this carpark. Please do not park on the school side of Sloan Drive or in the Sloan Drive slip lane as these areas will be part of the course for the older children.

I hope you have a wonderful week, please do not hesitate to reach out to me should you have any questions.

Thank you,

Miss Hurst
