Week 6 of Term 3

KAYA,

Congratulations to Carter, Jordy and Tim who made their Confirmation today in Our Lady of the Bay in Busselton. We hope you all have a great day of celebrations. Congratulations also to the Year 6 students from MacKillop who also made their Confirmation today. 🕊🔥

6H Star Citizen

Congratulations to Hudson Archer for winning the 6H star citizen award last week for the school value of Respect.
Huddy, you are an outstanding Year 6 role model and leader. You consistently display respect for everyone around you. During lessons you listen to your peers and always add depth and opinion to class discussions. You also demonstrate respect for others learning and showcase patience and kindness with your classmates. Huddy, you recognize that respect in your friendships builds feelings of trust, safety, and wellbeing and this is seen through your admiration for your peers, celebrating in their highs and supporting them in their lows. You also continually showcase respect and appreciation for your work and learning environment and continue to strive for greater achievements in your own learning and respect all new and exciting challenges that come your way. OLC is very lucky to have you as a true and respectful leader in our school. Well done, Hudson.

Operation Christmas Child ðŸŽ„🎅🤶

Please note that your child's Operation Christmas Child gift is due this week. Your child brought home a letter stating what item they needed to bring and for what gender. Please note that they will also have to bring $2.50 for the postage. The items do not need to be expensive.

Your child has been asked to bring in one of the following:

- Something for personal hygiene
- Something to wear

Here are the things that are NOT allowed in the shoe boxes:
Lollies; chocolate or food; fruit rolls or other fruit snacks; drink mixes (powdered or liquid); liquid paint; toothpaste; shampoo; aerosol cans; bubbles; crayons; plasticine/playdough; medicine; vitamins; used clothes; old toys; glass; porcelain; mirrors; war-related items; toy guns, knives; military figures; skull and crossbones; Halloween items; play money; playing cards; dominoes; tracts and Bibles (children are given an Operation Christmas Child evangelistic book at an outreach event).

Thursday 25th August

Thursday the 25th of August is such a busy day that it deserves its own section of the blog.

Book Week 2022

We will be celebrating Book Week on Thursday the 25th August. Thanks to Mary-Lee Kemp and Julie Birch for organizing activities and books for each class. Students are invited (but not required) to dress up on this day. We will not be having a whole school assembly to share costumes, but classes are invited to share their dress ups with their buddy class, and if weather permits we may hold an outdoor parade. Please note we will have a sport lesson on this day so students will need to wear trainers too.
The theme for this years book week is "Dreaming with eyes open". Dreaming with Eyes Open is about stepping into your own story. It invokes thoughts of ancient times, and of listening to Country as the first storyteller. You can, of course, adapt it to your own dreams and future ambitions.

Cricket and AFL Sessions

On Thursday the 25th August SEDA College (South Bunbury) will be coming to OLC to run Cricket and AFL sessions with some of our classes. 6H will be taking part in this session with our buddy class in 2M at 8.40 - 9.40. Because of this the students will need to come to school dressed for sport and then change into their book week costume.

6H Numbat Guest Speaker Talk

Our guest speaker, Jo Drew will visit 6H on Thursday the 25th of August from 11am - 12pm to tell us all about our amazing class totem the Numat. Jo from Project Numbat will be volunteering her time to visit us and tell us all about our amazing class totem. Thank you Jo, we cannot wait to welcome you to OLC.
