Term 4 - Week 1

 Kaya,

Can you believe that we have finally made it to Term 4?

I am just so proud of all the students in 6H and I am so excited to see what Term 4 will bring for them all. 6H has become a small family and I missed all of the students whilst they were on holidays. My plan for Term 4 is to prepare them as much as possible for high school, whilst enjoying their last few months at Our Lady of the Cape.
I hope you have all enjoyed every minute of your holiday and managed to have time with friends, family and lots of fun. I got to spend some awesome time with friends and got some quality skyping time with my family and friends back home. I cannot wait to hear from the students about their holidays.

⭐⭐Star Citizen⭐⭐
Well done to Jacob Heitman on receiving the star citizen award on week 10 in Term 3. Jacob you are an outstanding Year 6 role model and leader. You consistently display respect for everyone around you, including your peers and your teachers. During lessons you are always diligently listening to your peers and teachers and this allows you to add depth and opinion to class discussions. You also respect your learning development and put mammoth effort into all tasks that you are presented with. You are consistently respectful of your peers learning, assisting when needed and working collaboratively in teams. OLC is very lucky to have you as a true and respectful leader and role model in our school. Well done, Jacob, the school is a better place because you are in it.

🖌🎨Peace Poster Winner🖌🎨
Well done to Alexandra Youlden for her outstanding peace poster submission. Alexandra was voted the winner of OLC by the teachers and Year 1-6 students. Alexandra your work was beautiful. A massive shout out to all the year 6 students who worked very hard on their Peace Poster, they were all amazing and they all encompassed the theme "Lead with Compassion" creatively. All the teachers said that this was the most amazing year with entries.

Seesaw
Seesaw has been a brilliant reporting tool for us as teachers and we love seeing your comments on all your children’s work. We are looking forward to continuing this great reporting method this term along with your child’s end of semester report which will include grades and a general comment. We can’t wait to share more of our amazing work with you before the end of Term Four, so keep an eye out for our amazing work to come!

Graduation PowerPoint
I am are hoping that you can find and email me a photo of your child as a baby and/or toddler. We would like to create a PowerPoint for Graduation with these special photos, as well as others from their time at OLC. If you have any ripper photos from your child's time at OLC, we would greatly appreciate any donations. Please email them through so I can get onto this job as soon as I can.

Stationary
If you can please take a moment to remind your child to clean out their pencil cases and check if they are missing anything. Over the last few weeks in Term 3, I noticed that students were still walking around for glue, erasers and coloured pencils and textas. Students having what they need goes a long way to helping them feel organised and in control. Also, your child will need a compass and a protractor for week 1 of Term 4.

Laptops
Please also remind your child to put their laptop on charge ready for each day, as work that is not complete in class because of a flat laptop will be sent home for ADDITIONAL homework.

Homework

The students homework is due on Wednesday, 19th October.

Please ensure all students are completing their homework and getting you to check it with a signature nightly and then signing the reading log and homework diary on a Tuesday afternoon before it is returned. Students who have not completed their homework will complete it during class time and during recess and lunch, an email will also be sent home to notify you. This organisation and time management skills is vital to aid in an easier transition to high school.

Home Learning includes:

  1. Reading x 40 minutes every night - students to write up the pages that they read that night and the parent to sign every night.
  2. Math - Ultimate Time tables quiz and figure out the number question challenge.
  3. High school preparation questions (please read and answer these questions with your child).
  4. Any unfinished class tasks.
I hope you all have a great week before school heads back, I am looking forward to hearing all about the students holiday.

Miss Hurst
