The Big One...Week 9 Term 4!

 Kaya,

It is incredibly hard to believe that this is the final week of Primary School for your children. I think I am in denial, I sit back and reflect on the year and can't believe we have reached this point already! Whilst I am sad to be saying goodbye this week, I know the students are grateful for what they have had at OLC and are ready with excitement to move on to their next big adventure ahead!

Sorry this blog is not so exciting, it covers a bit of housekeeping for the busy week ahead.

Star Citizen
Well done to Oliva Breheny for receiving the 6H star citizen award this week for Excellence. When when you look up the definition of excellence, there are certain words that are linked directly like; greatness, achieving, striving, personal best and positive attitude. Olivia, not only do these words describe excellence but they also describe you. Olivia is an exceptional leader who has a positive influence on her peers and those she mentors. She has a mature understanding that to strive for the best you must put in your best self and because of that she puts 110% into everything she does. Olivia has an excellent growth mindset and an exceptional attitude of gratitude. Well done Olivia!

GRADUATION
Can you believe we are in the final week and graduation is this week? 😲 The mass will commence this Friday 9th December in the Chuch at 9am. Please ensure that your child arrives to school at the right time as we will be start to walk to the church at 8.40am.

The students are to wear their formal summer uniform to this event. Your child will have an assigned seat with their name on it. The smaller seats in the church have one student and the larger pews have two students. Can you please ensure you arrive 10 mins before the start, so you can find your seat and settle. There are only 2 or 3 allocated seats next to your child for parents to sit and then limited extra seating at the back for extended family and friends (please be aware that standing may occur at the sides of the church depending on the numbers on the day). All are welcome. Please contact me if you have any further questions about the Mass.

After the church celebration, we will then walk back to the school. We will then join the parents for a morning tea outside the hall provided by the Year 5 parents, a massive shout out to those parents in advance of Friday. Once we have finished our morning tea we will then enter the hallway and proceed to showcase our Year 6 graduation song, go through the Year 6 awards and the student certificates and then have our celebration exit with the rest of the school!

Yipee - I am so exited to celebrate this amazing group of humans! It is a going to be a beautiful morning, the students have been working hard to make it special for all. Please ensure your child is attending school this week as we have a lot of practicing to do!

Please note your child will need to bring a change of clothes for the colour run and their leavers shirt with them on the day to get signed by their classmates and other teachers on the day. We will have time for this after graduation and before colour run.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT
The Christmas Concert is taking place this Wednesday 7th of December. Mrs King, has sent you a message over the seesaw app with information however there is a pre-show at 5pm for the concert. I will meet the students at my classroom and we will walk down to the oval together as a group and into our places, while you can find a nice spot on the hill. The students have been asked to wear Christmas colours and any other Christmas trimmings, such as hats, antlers, earrings, tinsel, etc for this event.

Pick up will be at Simmos Ice Creamery no later than 3.15pm, we will not be heading back to the school. Therefore, you will need to arrange for your child to be picked up at Simmos.  If you are asking another parent to collect your child, please send me a note to say this as we are unable to allow children to leave with other than a guardian without a note.

Children will need to wear free dress (appropriate for the activities planned) on this day and please ensure they have a packed recess, snack, OLC school hat and water bottle (full of water). Please get students to put on sunscreen before leaving home that morning and we will reapply throughout the day.

IMPORTANT...For our Gravity visit, Gravity requires the students to wear their socks. Therefore, if your child does not have a pair of Gravity socks already, they will need to bring $3 on the day to purchase these.

Volunteers and parent helpers are required for Golf at the Par 3 to supervise groups. If you are available please email myself and Sean. We will meet you at the Busselton Foreshore at 12pm for lunch.

Please get in touch if you have any additional questions. We are looking to have a fun day with the students and celebrate their growth and success this year.

COLOUR RUN
On Friday the Colour Run will take place at 2pm. The students have been sent home with a form to raise money for new school and sports equipment. These are due back on this day. As we have Graduation earlier that morning the students will need to bring in a change of clothes for the colour run, as they will be wearing their formal summer uniform in the morning. It may be a good idea to also have your child pack a towel and a reusable bag for any wet or coloured items at the end.

SECRET SANTA
The students have requested to do a Secret Santa across Year 6. This will be a student led initiative in the Year 6 Classroom for the students to purchase one small gift for a designated classmate. The students agreed on $10 as the max amount of money that could be spent, the suggestions were a chocolate bar, Christmas stocking, bouncy ball or craft items. Can you please ensure that you child brings their gift no later than Wednesday of week 9.

LEAVERS SHIRTS
Due to an overprint, we have 10 remaining leavers shirts from the printers that are available for purchase, we are happy to sell these for a cost of $10. These shirts could be kept as a keepsake or they could be used as a shirt to sign on the last day of school. It will be first in best dressed as to their availability.

BOOKS
These will be coming home in stages this week. Can you please make sure that your child has packed a reusable bag for each day to make life easier for all and to ensure that all is not left until the last day.
